No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he liked taking part in different card games when he was young. He discovered himself getting very aggressive in these card games while playing his dad. After finishing secondary school, Howard made a decision to put college on hold for a bit and moved away to New York City to play some serious chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were difficult as he would play countless hours and do not win most times. He made some additional cash by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He believed he might improve his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He made an effort to get more rest and focus attention even more on the game.

The actual improvement in his skills began when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would often wager against each other. He had access into several of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, he would sharpen his strategic thinking techniques. He applied these strategy ideas to the game of NL Texas Holdem.

Howard Lederer also assisted his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to move out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP competition. Annie Duke is one of the strongest female players the poker arena ever. Howard Lederer relocated to Las Vegas in 1993 and participated in money games for the following 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, he decided to compete in more tournaments.
