[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
