No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
