Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is often times viewed as one of the most complicated but popular poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant game, has expanded in popularity so rapidly.
Omaha/8 begins like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to every player. A sequence of betting follows where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are given out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting happens. After all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, an additional card is flipped on the turn. an additional round of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers will need to put together the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where many players can get baffled. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, in which the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to utilize precisely three cards from the board, and precisely two hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A low hand is more difficult, but certainly opens up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the worst hand that can be made, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no lower hand available, the higher hand takes the whole pot.
It may seem difficult at the start, after a couple of hands you will be able to get the basic subtleties of play simply enough. Since you have individuals wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at once, Omaha hi-low provides an amazing collection of wagering choices and owing to the fact that you have several players battling for the high hand, along with several battling for the low. If you prefer a game with a lot of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha 8 or better.
